    Chenhao Luo is a designer raised in China and currently a master’s candidate in Urban Design at Harvard University Graduate School of Design. He received his Bachelor’s degree with distinction from Syracuse University School of Architecture, where his graduation thesis won Jury Prize of the James Britton Memorial Awards.

    Emerald Pulse stands as a transformative vision for downtown Seattle at the intersection of Pioneer Square and the western flank of I-5. This initiative is set to play a pivotal role in connecting diverse urban districts. It’s envisioned as a cultural hub and a beacon of urban transformation, embodying the key themes of empowerment, resilience, and vitality.

    Emerald Pulse aims to revitalize the 15.4-acre site into a dynamic nexus that harmonizes the city’s past, present, and future. By integrating these elements, our proposal is not just a physical development but a symbol of the city’s ongoing evolution. It’s where history meets innovation and community meets progress, shaping a brighter, more connected future for Seattle.

    Emerald Pulse sits at the heart of culture exchange,  sustainable living, and innovation. This new identity is crucial for the area’s economic revitalization, community building, and culture preservation. It is about redefining the image of government and civic space, transforming City Hall Park into a new centre of gravity, and establishing a portal that shapes people’s impressions of the city.

    Financial viability is a key consideration in each phase. Emerald Pulse responsibly balances financial performance and urban development. It is a narrative of transformation and hope. It represents a future where empowerment, resilience, and vitality  are the pillars of a new urban reality. It is set to become a beacon of sustainable development, celebrating Seattle’s diverse culture and innovative spirit.
