Collective space of everyday experience

As Promised Land is attempts to negotiate multiple identities, cultures, and values. The spaces designed foster transactional political power by institutions and the local community while challenging the culture of top-down governance in this neighborhood. By transforming the everyday experience in the neighborhood, the proposal provides sharing economies to rewrite the public realm a more eventful quotidian experience.

By closely looking at the macro view of the area, the Near Westside community contains a wide range of institutions, Hillside children center, Pro Literacy, La casita, Peace Center, etc. Therefore, the site has the potential to evolve into a community hub that bound people and public space from east to west of this belt. The influence of this site shall not be limited to the urban boundary. Instead, the site could draw a further connection on the west side to the public park and school, or to the east side to the armory square, which is the downtown area of Syracuse.
